Siri

Charlie was sitting on the edge of the roof, looking down at the city from the top of the skyscraper, his feet dangling above the glowing abyss of lights.

He picked up his smartphone, took a picture of the last thing he will ever see(it was beautiful), added it to the blog post in which he said his goodbyes to the world and hit "send".

Atlantis

Captain looked at the gigantic underwater city, glowing brightly behind the force field. His submarine was floating still, just near the edge of the enormous bubble, and he was looking at it through the window of his cockpit.

The city looked like it was made out of gold. There was no texture to the buildings just pure and bright yellow metal.

After the war

A giant nuclear explosion grew on the horizon. A shock wave shook the remnants of the city, and shattered the remaining windows in the empty carcass of a skyscraper. A fleet of drones flew by, scanning the environment, looking for the enemies.

Target locked - a two-stories tall rusty robot was rolling on it's tracks down the street. In a few minutes it was pierced by laser rays and turned into a few glowing hot remnants scattered on the ground. Drones continued their search. Once they have passed, several cleaning robots started working on restoring the skyscraper. There were too few of them to fix the city, but they have significantly slowed down the deterioration. Most of the cities looked like that, the remaining battlefields of the pointless war. There were no humans in the world for more than 1000 years.

Harry Potter and the Midlife Crisis.

"I was supposed to be the greatest wizard of all time! I have very epic and heroic past. And look at me now! Managing a mediocre cauldron store in Diagon Alley? Come on! I refuse to accept that I've peaked at 17 years old!"

"Well, wasn't this kind of predictable, Harry?" asked Ginny in a slightly annoyed voice. "Your main virtue was always courage, not intelligence or entrepreneurship or cunning. There's a reason you went to the Gryffindor. And courage is pretty useless in peaceful times."

Rational Fiction

People who loved it created a community for sharing similar stories, discussing Rational and Rationalist Fiction, and writing HPMOR-inspired works.

If you want to get a general picture of why this thing is awesome, but not sure whether you are ready to read something big, you can take a look at Lord of Rationality, a rational take on The Lord of the Rings.

Beauty

[WP]: Describe the ugliest person imaginable using only praises and compliments

She was more handsome than a barfing snail. When people looked at her they couldn't look away, and dreamed about her for weeks after, waking up screaming every night. Her hair were like an ocean, a very deep ocean with terrifying creatures underneath. She had beautiful blue eyes, a lot of them, looking kindly at each other. What can I say, that girl stole my heart. And refused to give it back until I kiss her. That was a wonderful moment I won't be able to forget for the rest of my life, no matter how hard I try.

Maya

The only thing that I have ever knew was void. You could say that it surrounded me forever since there was no time before I created it. At first all I was was awareness, just the sense of conciousness with nothing else. Gradually, I started to think thoughts in the midst of this void. I've made up time and space. And once I was thinking in this emptiness I got horribly bored. So I've turned my thoughts into figures and images. I've imagined light, which turned into stars and galaxies and later - planets. And thus Maya was born.

On one of the planets I have created animals and humans, just in one whim of my desire. I could simulate the whole history of this universe starting with the Big Bang, but I didn't bother, waiting for billions of years would be too boring, besides the time was made up anyway, so I've just skipped right to the interesting part - the year 1983, the moment my imagined humans invented the internet, and started their race towards singularity.
